The BikeBums franchise continues its international run this year with a tour of Northern England and Scotland! Your 2019 BikeBums cast:
- Greg – the perennial bum, astride his trusty steed Tatonka
- Erin – the recum-bum
- Pierre – a cat
We’ll begin our journey from Erin’s posh flat in lovely Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and head westward along the river Tyne and the Hadrian’s wall national cycle route. Once we hit Carlisle, we’ll take advantage of the convenient British rail system and pop up to Glasgow. From there we head north to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, which we will ferry across to head deep into the Trossachs National Park. We’ll travel along a rail trail through the highlands and up to majestic Glencoe. We’ll hug the shores of Loch Linnae up to Fort William, at the base of the famous Ben Nevis and the gateway to the next leg of our trip, the Great Glen. We’ll follow a series of canals and lochs until we reach Loch Ness. From there, we head east to the coast, possibly making an ascent of Bealach na Bah, supposedly one of the UK’s premier – and most difficult – cycling climbs. We’ll hug the coast through seaside villages, lochs, and munros all the way up to Ullapool, shortly after which we will break to the southeast to Inverness. Next we head south up and over Cairngorms National Park, and eventually completing our adventure in the magical city of Edinburgh. Along the way we’ll undoubtedly visit many pubs, distilleries, teashops, castles, ruins and who-knows-what-else. Greg will try to tell the MacGregor joke to every Scotsman he can find. Beer will be drunk. Haggis will be eaten. Adventure will be had. Wish you could join us!
